Detroit Trip

Writing this blog reminds me of my primary school days when I was asked to write an essay for the topic "One hour at the ABC", where ABC could be a railway station, a bus stand etc. It's funny that today, I will be writing this blog for about an hour at the Cincinatti airport while I am waiting for flight to Raleigh.

The past four days having be really amazing. It started off with a very busy Thrusday
at the office, after which one of my buddies, Vipul (Bully) dropped me off at the airport for a flight to Cincinatti. At the airport I met another buddy of mine, Silviu. We chatted for a while after which he left for Canada and I flew to Cincinatti. My cousin picked me up at the Cincinatti airport after which we went to IHOP for a quick dinner. After dinner we moved back home and crashed into bed.

The next day i.e. Friday I was relaxing for most of the time while my cousin was working. He came back at around 4.00 pm and we then left for Detriot. The drive from Cincinatti to Detroit was fun. I really love tagging along with my cousin on long drives, we talk about so many things, about music, fun and life in general. After halting for dinner at subway we finally reached Satish's (another cousin of mine) place at about 11.00 pm. It was really nice to see him, my sister-in-law, my Uncle and aunt after such a long time. However I was most delighted to see my four month niece who is too cute. I also met some new and really nice people, Rahul and Nilu. They were fun as well.

The next day i.e. Saturday was simply great. Most of the day I spent playing with my niece, eating, listening to music and clicking pictures. I was most excited in the evening since I was about to meet three of my undergraduate friends, Himanshu, Poonam and Vru. We all met in the evening at a sports bar in Novi. We chatted about our school days and laughed a lot. We then played pool, drank and had lots of fun. We then headed out for dinner and after that clicked some pictures. It was really nice meeting them after four years. However the best part is neither of us have changed a bit. Everyone looks and talks the same. Not to mention, I was still nasty.. but couldn't help that.

Then on Sunday, it was business as usual, playing with my niece, eating and clicking pictures. I had another uncle and aunt visit me for lunch. It was good meeting them after a while. After that in the evening we had a barbeque party in the backyard and we cooked some great chicken and corn. These were also accompanied with boiled beans and carrots. We drank again, played frisbee and danced for while. We were all merry. After the barbeque and after cleaning up everything, we (family) sat together and we talked about the good old marriage days in India. We remembered all the fun we had for different marriages in our family. We even called up my parents in India and it was fun talking to them.

Finally, today we (family) went for lunch at Rahul's place and then me and my cousin drove back to Cincinatti. I checked in bit early at the airport inspite of my cousin's resistance, so that I could write this blog while waiting for my flight :-)

o(1) scheduler update

I think I am going well with my development of the O(1) process scheduler for the Linux kernel. Earlier I had planned to get it working for 2.4.26 but could not get UML working with that kernel. So started developing code for 2.4.30. I think I have got the data structures setup properly but still haven't removed the old scheduling code.....Will keep you all updated about how it goes.

Ok besides technical stuff, I had some of my old friends today at my place to celebrate my birthday. It feels so great to have friends around. I have always been blessed with some of the best people as friends.....

Gotta work again tommorow :=(
