Awesome Digital Music

Check out Digitally Imported for awesome techno trance music.

Pachgani trips

Today as I was driving back home from work, the weather was grey and I was listening to the song "Never tear us apart" by INXS. I don't know why but this reminded me of the sweet memories that I had during undergraduate days along with my Naka friends when we use to frequent Vinayak's house in Panchgani. I remembered about those Panchgani trips because I had heard this song on one of such trips. I even recollect the name of the casette I was listening and I think it was "Power Ballads". Those trips to Panchgani were awesome, five or six of us from the Naka gang use to goto Panchgani after almost every engineering semester and used to spend about 4 or 5 days there. It was fun everytime even though we visited the same places each time. It was so much fun.

Life has changed....a little bit

There have been so many things happening lately that I hardly had any time to blog. However I am relaxed a little bit tonite and hence thought of writing something.

First and foremost Tanu has got a kind of job that she has being looking for, here in Wilkesboro, NC. Also the best part of the whole thing is that she is now just two hours away from me and so I will be driving to Wilkesboro every weekend. Hopefully after sometime she will start driving to Morrisville instead.

Also one of my best friends and my ex-roommate, Ankur is getting married. I am still not able to digest the idea that Ankur can be someone's husband and take over such serious role :) . However Ankur is one of those guys whom can't stop liking. Gem of a heart but also very naughty and I can't ever remember he being serious. Enjoy's life to the fullest. Congrats to Ankur (now Anwar Miya) and Sumera.

Job is going great. Have started off with an Ontap (Netapp OS) development projects and have reading, modifying and experimenting with the code. Need to learn a lot. Seems that it will take me almost a year until I understand all the internal details and for me to start thinking at design level. However I am hoping that it will be a joy ride to learn the stuff. Also for the current project I am working with Rik Faith who is one of the earlier contributers to Linux.

As far are Linux development goes I think I am going to take a break for now. Will read a lot rather than working on something specific. Also with Tanu being nearby, will spend more time with her, bike a lot in the sun and hopefully will sky dive soon!!!

CSCAN now works with RB Trees

I finally nailed the bug which was causing the CSCAN scheduler not behaving as expected with Red Black trees. You may wish to download the patch here . The scheduler now works as I wanted it to.

Linked list implementation better than RB Tree implmentation

My CSCAN implementation using linked lists seems to be better than RB tree implementation which is ironic.

I/O scheduler patch posted on LWN.net

Click here to read the post. However the patch posted has some serious bugs, these have been fixed now and a new patch for the 2.6.16.2 kernel can be found here .

Would U have Invested?

It's very much true that where you go in life, does not depend on where you start in life. The reason behind this saying lies here . I sometimes feel extemely lucky (and even proud) of my field, Computer Science.
