Before Sunset

Yesterday evening was one of the best evenings of my life. I came from the office at around 6.00 pm. Tanu and me then booked her tickets from Boston to Raleigh so that she can move here permanently this weekend. Her interview with NetApp went well and I am hoping that she will get the job.

We then went out for dinner at a Chinese restaurant and the food there was simply awesome. After that we strolled for a while, chit chatting. It was peaceful all around and the weather could not have been better. We then drove back home and realized that we forgot to get the movie DVD. We then drove back to the DVD rental store and bought the movie "Before Sunset"

We then sat together on the couch and watched it. This was the first movie that Tanu and movie watch together at home. The movie was really awesome, infact it was perfect to watch it along with Tanu.

AVL Trees

I have a basic understanding of AVL Trees now. It's a cool concept with all of the operations having a time complexity of O(log n). I haven't programmed anything using AVL trees as yet but would do that really soon.

Also I have learnt that the ReiserFS filesystem as well as some of the Linux Memory Managment routines use AVL trees for implementation.

Need to write some small programs to get a hang of it.

Empty 2 weeks

Since past 2 weeks i.e. about the time I completed the scheduler project, I haven't been doing anything creative or fruitful. Was simply lazying around, chilling, relaxing and cooking. Have been to one friend or other for dinner in the past two weeks.

However I did ponder about what I want to do next and the aim as off now is follows

1) AVL Trees.
2) Genetic programming.
3) Reading Linux related research papers and come up with the next project idea.

As of now, I am off to my weekend hike. This time I am hiking at Crabtree National Park.

Rang De Basanti

Waiting for the release of "Rang De Basanti". Now a days I am listening to the movie's songs and am simply loving it. My favourites being "Lukhacupi", "Roobaroo" and "Rang De Basanti" in order.

Also I am really waiting for Tanu's visit to Raliegh. Looking forward to have a great time with her like walking in the evenings or watching the moon at nite from my balcony.

Got the O(1) scheduler working!!!

I could successfully backport the O(1) scheduler to 2.4 Linux kernel after a long time now. It was lots of hard work but I am very glad that it finally paid off. Also I have a meeting tommorow with my company's attorney, just to confirm that I can publish my code under GPL. Open source software simply rocks!!! The patch is now avaliable here.

Happy New Year 2006!!!!

Spent the New Year's eve with Tanu my sweet fiancee', Amol, Ritu, Ajay, Shubhagni and Sagar my cousins. A great way to start my New Year.
