Once a geek always a geek

So I got a book called "Ten day MBA" a couple of days. I haven't completed even the first chapter and I feeling like throwing the book away. Not that the book is horrible or anything. It's just that I have realized that I am not fit for MBA or atleast I don't like the junk that you need to understand to be a MBA. The reason being I am very pragmatic and scientific in my approach towards everything in my life. I need to know why things behave the way they do. I am not at all theortical.

Anyway I have realized that I would like remain a Computer Engineer (atleast for a while), since I really love the field. For the coming months I have decided to get the following things accompanished
1) Understand B-trees (I am almost done with it)
2) Writing a simple B-tree based filesystem for Linux
3) Writing a network (FTP) based filesystem client for Linux

This should keep me occupied for couple of months now.

Also I have to stop (or atleast cut down) watching TV and read more of books instead.

Wines tasted

Once during one of the beer bashes that we have every Friday in our office, we had some special wines being served. Honestly I wasn't a big fan of wine before this occasion. However I really enjoyed the Merlot wine that was being served. Also short time after that Bonda, Bully and me had been wine tasting to one of the wineries near my apartment complex and since then I have been drinking wine in small amounts regularly with my dinner.

The wines that I have bought so far include the following (This have been sorted as per my likings)

1) Merlot (my favorite)
2) Shiraz
3) Chardonnay
4) White Zinfandel
5) Cabernet Sauvignon

Another awesome weekend !!!

Two weekends ago Tanu and me had been to Charlotte for a day and we really enjoyed it so much. I thought, that weekend would be one of the best weekends we would have for a while now. But I was proved wrong this weekend becoz it was all the more fun. The reason being, apart for Tanu and Me we had some of our really close friends along with us. These friends were Salil, Rahul (my childhood buddies), Aana, Mahummad (Salil's close buddies but now my buddies as well). We basically decided to get together for Aana's birthday in Charlotte.

So Tanu and Me drove to Charlotte the saturday afternoon and reached the Westin hotel in Charlotte at around 2.30 pm . Anna had booked a room in Westin and we met Salil, Mahummad and Rahul (aka Maakad) there. We had hilarious time in the afternoon cracking jokes and Salil eating some food and later dropping the dishes. However there was an unexpected turn in the evening when my Manager called me up and asked me whether I could work on something really urgent. Meanwhile the others were planning to go out shopping for gifts for Anna. Since I had decided to work on stuff which my Manager had called for, I had to let Tanu and the rest of gang proceed without me. However after sometime one of my collegues gave me a call and he said that he had covered me up so I could enjoy the rest of the weekend. I was really happy to hear that but my friends had already left without me, so decided to walk down the Charlotte downtown and have a view of the city all by myself. I simply love Charlotte, its the second best city to me in the US, after Chicago.

Soon in about two hours Tanu and my friends came back and we then drove to get a cake for Anna's birthday. We bought a yummy ice cream cake and then drove back to Aana's place. Unfortunately we lost our way and it took use an extra hour to find her place. Also it was 12.00am and since not restaurants were opened we decided to order pizza. Now since Tanu does not eat pizza Tanu, Salil and me drove to a grocery store to buy granula bars and soup for her. The real fun began once reached home and when we started drinking (vodka and tequila) and eating pizza. We had two more friends Hari and Karren and we kept on eating, drinking, talking and clicking pictures until 4.30 am in the morning. After this we all crashed into the bed for a short nap.

The next day i.e. Sunday we woke up early morning and we all drove to the Lake Norman National Park and did canoeing there. It was lots of fun as it was the first time for most of us. I would strong recommend canoeing to anyone who enjoys water sports, it is really a good exercise and as well as great fun at the same time. Once we were done with canoeing we all went to an awesome lakeside restuarant and had some great american food there. It was so much fun enjoying the food and narrating stories about our (Rahul, Salil and me) childhood and college days together. This weekend will definately be one of the most memorable ones that I ever had.
