Friends are forever

I think of myself to be extremely fortunate as far as friends go. I think I can very much say I am in touch with most of my friends (though I should take more efforts to keep in regular touch with them).

Yesterday evening my school best friend visited us. He is currently touring US on look out of some business. Both of us went to school together and have been best buddies since the sixth grade. Eating together, playing together, going home together, doing lots of mischief together. After the tenth grade I opted for the science field and he opted for the commerce field. So our schools and fields very drastically different after that. But yet we were in regular touch with each other and did visit our old school every now and then.

Yesterday we met after almost 8 years but our friendship hasn't changed a bit. We still have the same friendship that we had when we were kids. It was fun meeting him and remembering the old times. Life has changed a lot for both of us. I was bit vary in the beginning about being able to connect with him but within five minutes that we met, we were the same good old friends from the school.

I think I have similar relationship with my other friends from high school, undergrad and grad school. Alas we are all dispersed here and there, and it is difficult to meet them on regular basis.

American Beliefs

Finished reading American Beliefs, a great book that explains why America is such a different country as compared to the other developed nations. I definitely agree that in the US, you are limited by your imagination to achieve whatever you want. I think there is not other country like the US where an immigrant can as successful as the citizen or even more. The only that matters here is hard work and belief in oneself (however the immigration policies do suck at times).

Soul of a new machine

I finished reading Soul of a new machine" , one of the best books I have ever read. I think the reason for me liking it so much is that I can so very much relate to the story presented in it. I think every engineer should read it especially if your are into developing new innovative products. I promise you will really love it.
